Hunger-strike aint a Nigerian thing!

I stumbled upon a story about a Palestinian who embarked on hunger strike for eight months to protest what he considered unlawful detention.
''Samer Issawi was said to have been sentenced in 2002 to 26 years in prison for his role in a series of shootings that targeted police cars and students at Jerusalem's Hebrew University in Isreal. He was released in 2011 as part of a deal that freed hundreds of Palestinians – many of them militants involved in fatal attacks – in exchange for the release of an Israeli soldier held in Gaza. As part of the deal that brokered his release, Issawi was not allowed to enter the West-bank.''

To shorten this story the Palestinian broke terms of his release agreement by visiting the West-bank a couple of times and was duly rearrested.

So here i am sitting and playing the same events in my head but the scene brought home to Nigeria.

You actually committed a crime, you were found guilty of this crime and the same ''you'' does not want to eat food in ''jail''... and this is suppose to affect ''who'' exactly? ''LWKMD''
We don't roll like that in these parts my brother, that type of suicide is watched on CNN through dstv while eating pop-corn.
Na wa o, person no wan chop...that one na more food for other prisoners ke!
Heck.. Nigerians are on natural hunger strike already, making it official will only be seen as you looking for cheap publicity... or maybe you are aspiring to become an actor?
In fact your sentence could be increased for constituting a nuisance... If you want to die you will be advised to do it in the confines of your jail-cell.
See wahala o...
LOL
Anyway, its good to fight for your right at all times... Nice going Issawi.
